How long do mr2 engines last

All depends they can be worn out by 60, miles if they have seen lots of cold startups and short trips on the other hand there can be factory hone marks on , mile engines all in what type of travel it did and if the oil was changed. Helps a lot. Yeah, even if you abuse the poor thing, it'll do k. The P. Originally Posted by Servin. Ours went before they put rod through block. This happened from low oil. I just changed my oil with mobil 1 10W30, I think I read mobil 1 is one of the better brands. I'll make sure I keep an eye out so I can top it off if needed! I"m pushing past K and compression is great although my front seal is starting to leak a bit and the oem timing belt needs replacement,I'm hoping it will last for another 60k I always keep the oil topped off just to prevent throwing a bearing,I still drive it hard and when it breaks I should have enough money for a nice smooth revving 3vzfe.

The key is to keep it well oiled. If you baby your car then maybe. Most of these motors go anywhere from 90K to k. Especially when they are driven hard, and most us us drive the hell out of them.

Even with regular oil changes and maintenance k is a stretch. I've got k miles and over 85 track hours on my ' There are only 5 or 6 of you that replied with these numbers. I'm just saying not to get your hopes up about getting k out these motors. I just have to question how much of those dying young is poor maintenance though Reasonable minds may differ :.

There is no telling what they have been through at this point. I don't know about that,5sfe crapping out under k,honestly I don't know any 5sfe owners that had any major problems under k,I know 3 guys with 5sfe engines running over k,I even know a couple running strong at k w just minor oil leaks. I think when people buy their Toyota vehicles from the factory they neglect to break their engines inn properly which leads to engine failure under k.

There are a myriad of variables and would be impossible to set a specific range of miles that these engines fail - unless we are talking about a 13B Rotary Twin Turbo lol - which is 60kk by the way. I bought my 91 at k miles, and since I have owned it, 11yrs now I changed the oil every 2k miles, and when I did change it, I used to take the pressurized oil gun in the shop and squirt out the oil pan while it was still on the lift.

I ran the ba-jesus out of that car and never had any problems except for the valve seals. The distributor seal and valve cover always leaked, but it always ran great. Either way, I would trade a civic for a MR2 any day of the week. MZW20;]When I rebuilt the bottom end of my 1MZ with new bearings, thrust washers, piston rings, and cylinder hone no overbore , I kept my old pistons because they looked new thanks to the anti-friction coating on the piston skirt.

QUOTE] When I pulled the heads off mine and sent them to the machine shop, the machinist installed the valve seals and couldn't find anything else wrong with the heads. He said they were in perfect condition, so I didn't even bother with the lower end. The engine has k miles on it. I don't know about that,5sfe crapping out under k,honestly I don't know any 5sfe owners that had any major problems under k most peoples cars have under k here.

It had never been rebuilt and was still running great when i pulled it. The thing didnt smoke or rattle. It used a little bit of oil but i think that was mostly cause it had a couple of oil leaks i never fixed. That's impressive bro; That's what I'm talking about.

Lots of claims over at CarSurvey when I was researching a vehicle. There was no artificially aspirated version, either, unlike the first gen that was made available with a supercharger and the second gen that got a turbo. But the MR2 Spyder was the end of an era. Modern safety regulations would never really allow for that. It was a couple inches shorter than the NB, but has a wheelbase more than seven inches longer, its wheels pushed as far the corners as possible.

This, according to Car and Driver , helped provide a more stable handling experience than the two previous iterations of the MR2 that were notoriously prone to snap-oversteer.

Performance-wise, a Motor Trend review pitted it head to head with the Miata and found it to outperform in acceleration, braking and in a slalom.

That came coupled to your choice of either a traditional five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automated manual transmission. Either way, the Spyder had a claimed time of 7.
