Can i install air conditioning in a car

I'll echo that sentiment. Dont Do It!!! After a couple of years I looked in to getting air but too much hassle, too much money, reliability concerns. Buy a car that already has it. I bought a brand new Toyota without air conditioning once due to financial restraints when I was young, but later on I was in a much better financial situation so I asked my friend who lived in the States to call the toyota dealerships down there to see what was the cheapest price to have one installed for me.

Sure enough the price was almost half in the States and even with the exchange rate of around 1. Maybe you could try calling a few Honda dealerships in Buffalo to see if they much cheaper down there. Just make the appointment and go down and spend half a day there to get it done.

They did it for me in just 3 hours! Just me two cents! Steps Turn the air conditioning on while the car is running. The air conditioner won't run properly unless your engine is running. Listen for unusual noises coming from the AC. Feel the air coming out of the vents. Notice the air pressure. Smell the air coming from the vents. Inspect your car's fuses. You will be fine as long as you don't need or want AC in your car. If the clutch doesn't work properly, you will still be able to drive your car.

I have seen it so many times on vehicles where they just don't use their AC ; however, if your AC compressor doesn't work, you won't have cold air coming from your vents. But the price tag varies widely depending on where you live, the type of system you need and the condition of your existing air ducts. Maruti Suzuki Gypsy does not have air conditioning features in any of the variant. AC would be useful provided you have closed cabin like normal hatchbacks or sedans like that.

The best 12v portable air conditioner for cars is the MightyKool A. This water-based cooling fan holds up to a gallon of water and doesn't use ice at all.

The device plugs into a 12v car outlet or cigarette lighter and will run for about 8 hours on a gallon of water. A vehicle's air conditioning system does not create cold air. It travels through the high-pressure lines to the condenser. Well, there are a few signs to look for.

Room Temperature Air. One of the most characteristic symptoms of low freon is the presence of room temperature air blowing from the vents. Visible Leaks. Of course, another sign of low freon levels is a visible leak. Clutch Doesn't Engage. Ice on Compressor. The two copper fittings behind are the connection points for the heater core.

Phillip got hold of some OE kick-panel vents for his installation. They were from a Fairlane and were originally brown, but he painted them to match the car. The centre vent is also OE Ford. Vintage Air kits come with ducting and a range of outlets. The downward-facing slotted outlets direct air to the floor. The two half-circle outlets on the top of the unit on the firewall side are for the elongated windscreen vents. The three outlets on the cabin side of the unit are for the side and centre vents.

Again, the ducts just push onto the outlets and are retained by small gripping barbs. It could be hidden if you wanted to retain an authentic appearance. Vintage Air recommends insulating the floor and firewall with Dynamat or a similar product to maximise efficiency, and Phillip says he plans to do this shortly to complete his installation.

Which is a small price to pay compared to the value of the car, and it allows you to cruise in comfort all year round. Phillip reports that the system runs superbly. The only problem is that he can no longer hang his elbow out the window while cruising.

Find out more by visiting www. THE gaseous refrigerant is compressed by the belt-driven compressor to a higher density and temperature. The compressed refrigerant is much hotter than the air passing through the condenser, so it sheds heat. By the time the refrigerant has passed through the entire condenser core it has reverted back to its liquid state.

The liquid refrigerant then passes through the thermal expansion TX valve, which controls the amount of refrigerant that enters the evaporator under the dash of your car. The evaporator is like a small radiator; warm air passes over it, turning the refrigerant back into gas and causing an endothermic reaction, which absorbs a lot of heat from the air passing through the evaporator core.

See an air con specialist before things get to this point. Paul Tuzson. Gallery 4. The condenser receives very hot compressed gas from the compressor, and the heat difference between the compressed refrigerant gas and the air passing through causes the refrigerant to condense back into liquid 3. Your cooling system should be in good shape 4.
