With the help of the original architectural team, Chapman, Coyle, Chapman and award-winning interior designer, Traci Rhodes, we were able to transform our 37, square foot Clubhouse into the perfect retreat for single professionals, accomplished retired folks, and busy families. Our commitment to families and youth is reflected in our 4 USTA 10 and under courts.
Pickleball continues to grow in popularity as do the number of courts available. We currently offer four pickleball courts. The Swim facilities feature three resort style pools. A water playground for the 8 and under children. A junior Olympic pool with 5 swim lanes and a diving well. In addition to being the family favorite hangout, this pool serves as home to our award winning swim team, the Mustangs!
Last, the adult only pool serves as a quiet retreat for those 18 and over and looking to relax. The Mustang Grill is open seasonally for salad, sandwiches, grilled food, beverages, and of course ice cream! Following the magnificent revitalization project, Horseshoe Bend Country Club has found its sweet spot as the premier, family-oriented, private country club in North Atlanta.
With numerous dining options and an activity calendar boosting more than events annually, there is something for everyone! And there is certainly no other club in the area that has made such a concerted commitment to their valued members and families, future members, and invited guests to provide the utmost in quality facilities, service, and community.
In , with many of the available lots built out with homes, the ongoing maintenance and governance of the neighborhood and its common areas were turned over to Horseshoe Bend Community Association. These events brought professionals, including Mats Wilander, Jimmy Connors, Phil Mickelson, and many other well-known athletes to our neighborhood. Horseshoe Bend played a special role in the Olympics in Atlanta as well, as several homeowners offered their homes to host athletic teams from around the world.
In recent years, Horseshoe Bend is enjoying a time of revitalization that coincides with the renovation and improvements at Horseshoe Bend Country Club, purchased by businessman Ben Kenny in The expansive swim and tennis center, opening in fall , promises to further enhance the experience of living in the community.
In the east Roswell area that surrounds us, new commercial development, excellent schools, major business and retail centers, and diverse opportunities for cultural and recreational activities make Horseshoe Bend a very desirable location. Golf Club of Georgia had an amazing reputation and we want to capitalize on that reputation. Welch says there was also some initial skepticism at Horseshoe Bend after Kenny acquired the club and informed the membership of his plans for it, but after the sizeable amount of money he spent to improve it, the skepticism has been replaced by appreciation.
For more than two decades, the members at Golf Club of Georgia have enjoyed a pair of outstanding but contrasting courses, but have enjoyed one more than the other. Lakeside, the first of the two to be designed by acclaimed architect Arthur Hills, was built on the prime golf course land on the property, with much of the back nine winding along Lake Windward. Creekside was constructed on a site not as ideal for a golf course, with a considerable number of wetlands areas impacting the layout and the terrain not nearly as gentle as that used for Lakeside.
While Lakeside offered a traditional, tree-lined setting with its large, undulating greens responsible for much of its challenge. Creekside was more of a modern, target-style course, with the wetlands areas requiring a number of forced carries. Over the years, some of the areas that required shots to have to carry from point A to point B have become fairways, and a few others are either having some of the high native grasses mowed or being sodded to add some definition.
It was hard and a little too demanding. The removal of many of the fairway bunkers has made Creekside a less demanding course off the tee, but there are still plenty of holes that will not respond kindly to miss-hit shots. If you can hit it reasonably solid off the tee, Creekside is not an overwhelming test, although there are several stout par 4s and a pair of demanding par 3s that will require your best efforts to avoid damage to your scorecard.
